My parents survived the Second World War. The experiences from that time, marked by severe injury, mortal fear, flight, expulsion, and silence, are anchored in our genetic heritage. These emotional memories continue to affect us through transgenerational transmission, even if we didn't experience them directly. Past and present, experienced and inherited emotions, coexist within us.
